Apple Pie
Made with Alaskan Grown Apples
Alaskan Grown Apple Pie
-Wash, peel, and slice 25 alaskan small apples, or 5-6 granny smith and 2 red delicious
-Preheat oven to 425*
Pie Crust
-2 1/2 Cups all purpose flour
-1 tsp Alaskan sea salt from @alaskasaltco
-2/3 Cup vegetable oil
-6 Tbsp ice cold water
- Add dry ingredients to medium size mixing bowl, mix and set aside
- Add water and oil to a separate mixing bowl, then add to dry ingredients
-Mix together with fork or hands
-Split dough into two equal parts, one for the bottom crust and the other for the top crust
-Roll out dough using parchment paper
-Place rolled dough bottom layer in pie dish
-Set aside rolled dough top layer
Apple Pie Filling
-Sliced apples
-1/4 Cup sugar makes a semisweet tart filling , (3/4-1 cup if you like it sweet)
-1-2 tsp cinnamon
-2 Tbsp flour to thicken
-Place pie filling in pie dish
-Add 5-6 pads of butter atop apples for a creamier pie
-Top pie with crust
-Vent top pie crust
-Wrap pie rim with aluminum foil or crust ring to avoid burning crust edging
-Bake for approx 40 minutes, until crust is golden
